We spoke to Lilley, the co-founder of the brand Three Spirit .

“Can you share the story of how your business got started? What sparked your passion for non-alcoholic beverages?”

We are a team of people who love a good time. We love a drink, but not always an alcoholic one. We saw something bubbling a few years ago when non-alcoholic spirits and functional beverage trends were in their infancy. We saw an opportunity to address the social benefits of alcohol consumption by using functional ingredients in the NA space and from there the interest exploded.

“What is the big dream and mission that drives your brand? How are these expressed in your products and company culture?”

We want to offer drinkers a real choice, a real alternative to alcohol that is not so much about compromise, but rather about enjoyment. Our mission is to help people reduce their alcohol consumption and switch to the myriad pleasures that our botanical elixirs can deliver in terms of new flavour profiles and bespoke sensory benefits.

“What do you think sets your non-alcoholic beverages apart from others available on the market?”

We pride ourselves on creating unique liquids that don’t try to replicate the flavours of well-known spirits, but instead harness the power of botanicals to deliver complex mature blends that deliver beneficial effects. We have drinks that will uplift you, enhance social connection or bring you back down to earth. Not many other NA drink ranges can do this. Our mantra is why imitate something you can never be, better to be proud of what you are!

Where does Three Spirit get its inspiration for developing new recipes and flavors?

I guess I’m a bit of an anarchist at heart, so when it comes to recipe development I usually go all out or nothing at all! We’ve worked with some of the world’s best bartenders to create something bold, something that pushes the boundaries. We also listen to our customers. We’re a tight-knit team so I really listen to what they’re saying; some of our fans who love Livener wanted it spicier – so we created a limited edition, extra spicy version. It wasn’t easy, but it’s been a huge success. As they say, the customer is always right when it comes to taste.

“Do you have a personal favorite in your product lineup? Which one and why is it a must-try?”

Nightcap is the jewel in the crown because it’s silky smooth, seductive, tasty and effective. It’s super easy to drink because you can just pour it over ice and sip neat. Three Spirit has a range of, you guessed it, three NA spirits, but it’s also worth mentioning our Blurred Vines range; namely Sharp . This NA white wine alternative tastes divine and is refreshingly different to anything you’ve tried before. Packed with vitamin D.

“Do you have any cool tips or advice for those looking for tasty non-alcoholic options?”

Set your intentions. You need to tell your brain what you want. Repeatedly. Finding your community is also important. If none of your friends or family are alcohol-free, there are sober curious influencers or groups online to tap into for advice and support. I would also really recommend trying some non-alcoholic options as they really enhance your experience, rather than making you feel restricted or missing out. Drinking together is a social ritual, and a good quality alcohol alternative like Three Spirit that still provides a function means you don’t miss out on that connection.

“What's coming up? Anything exciting on the horizon for your brand?”

Always. We still have some R&D to do on a third wine alternative to complete our Blurred Vines line, and we’re excited to see our beverages increasingly available in stores across the US and UK. We’re also committed to maintaining our B-Corp status.
