Dry January is (almost) over. At least 25,000 people gave it a try and the demand for non-alcoholic drinks increased in many Amsterdam catering establishments. Yet it remained as busy as ever. 'There was also a lot of drinking.' Last month, groups of people entered the pub several times around midnight, says Bas van der Geest from Bar Joost (Oost). “Nothing crazy of course, ready to continue the evening. But to my surprise, they all ordered non-alcoholic beer.”
