Every year, the sale of non-alcoholic drinks peaks in the first month of the year, because many people put their drinking on hold in the context of dry january. Non-alcoholic beer has shown growth in recent years, but this year sales of non-alcoholic wine will peak in particular.

"In recent years, we have seen that more non-alcoholic drinks were sold in January than in other months," Marten Suurmeijer of market research agency NielsenIQ tells NU.nl.

The market research agency looked at the sales data of all supermarkets in the Netherlands. Suurmeijer says that this peak is the result of dry January. Then people start looking for it, the range is larger and there is more advertising.
