In the picturesque town of Rüdesheim am Rhein, in the heart of the Rheingau, lies Weingut Leitz – a family business with a rich history dating back to 1744. After the destruction of the Second World War, the estate was rebuilt by Josef Leitz. In 1985, his grandson Johannes Leitz took the helm at just 21 years old, transforming the modest 2.9-hectare estate into an internationally renowned winery with around 130 hectares of vineyards, 40 of which are owned outright.

The vineyards of Weingut Leitz lie on the steep, south-facing slopes of the Rüdesheimer Berg, with famous sites such as Berg Schlossberg, Berg Roseneck, Berg Rottland, and Berg Kaisersteinfels. These unique terroirs, made up of quartzite and slate soils, give the wines their characteristic minerality and complexity.

Johannes Leitz is known for his dedication to quality and sustainability. He combines traditional winemaking methods with modern techniques, striving for minimal intervention to preserve the true expression of the terroir. His philosophy is to let the wine develop its own character, with respect for nature and the environment.

The estate produces a wide range of wines, from the approachable "Eins-Zwei-Dry" Riesling to the prestigious "Großes Gewächs" wines from the top vineyard sites. In addition, Weingut Leitz has developed a successful line of alcohol-free wines under the name "Eins-Zwei-Zero," which are appreciated worldwide.

Johannes Leitz's commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed. In 2011, Gault Millau named him "Winzer des Jahres" (Winemaker of the Year), and in 2019 the estate received the highest rating of five grape clusters in both the Gault Millau and Eichelmann wine guides.

Weingut Leitz is a shining example of tradition, innovation, and passion for winemaking, offering wines that masterfully express the essence of the Rheingau.
