Literally, since the vineyards lie on steep south-facing slopes rich in shell limestone, which retains warmth and gives the grapes their lively, mineral character. And figuratively, since the Apel family works on a foundation of tradition, craftsmanship, and deep love for wine.

Today the house is run by the fourth generation: Philip, Johannes, and Matthias. Young, curious, yet rooted in everything their parents and grandparents built. They make wine with respect for nature: without herbicides, with flowering herbs between the rows, in harmony with their surroundings.
