The advance of non-alcoholic wine: supply and quality are increasing
Non-alcoholic wines: in terms of number and quality, not as far as non-alcoholic beers and 0.0 spirits, but they are there. And the offer is growing fast. Wine experts talk about the opportunities for the hospitality industry: "A good non-alcoholic offer can increase turnover."
The quality and image of non-alcoholic wine was nothing to write home about for years. Bocht pur sang, refined grape juice or a very meager comfort for non-drinkers, to name but a few. Or as wine guru Harold Hamersma famously put it a few years ago: “Alcohol-free wine is like having sex with an inflatable doll.” But times change and techniques improve. Even Hamersma had to adjust his opinion slightly.
