Apple Crumble
This warm, crispy apple crumble has a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg. It goes perfectly with the sparkling tea from Acala Winter Style . Ingredients
- 2 large apples (e.g. Elstar or Granny Smith), peeled and diced
- 1 tablespoon sugar or honey
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- 50 grams of flour
- 30 grams of cold butter, cubed
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- pinch of salt
- Optional: a handful of chopped nuts, such as almonds or walnuts
Preparation method
- Mix the apple cubes with the sugar or honey, cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon juice in a bowl and mix well.
- Mix the flour, cold butter, brown sugar and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Rub the butter into the flour mixture with your fingers or a fork until it has a crumbly texture. Add chopped nuts for extra crunch if desired.
- Divide the apple filling between two small oven dishes and sprinkle the crumble topping over it. Bake the apple crumble in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 20-25 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the apples are soft.
- Allow the crumble to cool briefly, but serve warm for the best taste.
