Non-alcoholic mulled wine

Non-alcoholic mulled wine

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of non-alcoholic red wine
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 cloves
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 piece fresh ginger (about 2 cm), peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup (optional)
  • 1 vanilla pod, split open (optional)

Preparation method

  1. Pour the non-alcoholic red wine into a large saucepan and add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, orange and lemon slices.
  2. Also add the ginger slices and the vanilla pod, if using.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat. Do not let it boil, but simmer gently to release the flavors.
  4. Let the mulled wine steep for about 20 minutes. Taste and add some honey or agave syrup for a little sweetness if desired.
  5. Strain the mulled wine to remove the spices and fruit residues.
  6. Serve warm in pretty glasses and garnish with a slice of orange or star anise.
