Alcohol-free is on the rise: 'People no longer feel like having a hangover'
Dutch people often order a non-alcoholic beer or a mocktail. The range of such drinks is growing steadily. Partly thanks to entrepreneur Wim Boekema, who now has four alcohol-free liquor stores throughout the country with World of NIX. "Once the December and January rush is over, we will look further at expanding."
"The door is closed, but we are open," is posted at the Amersfoort branch of World of NIX. The drinks retailer also has to think about the energy bill. A few customers are walking around inside. When they pay and walk outside again, Boekema cheerfully says hello. "Thanks, enjoy! And happy holidays!"
