Alcohol-free increasingly popular: 'You shouldn't see it as a copy of alcohol'
Province of Utrecht - A glass of champagne at the stroke of twelve o'clock. Enjoy a cold beer or a nice glass of wine for the rest of the evening. For many people, alcohol is inextricably linked to New Year's Day, but the non-alcoholic version of beer, gin or wine is also becoming increasingly popular. This is evident from figures from the Trimbos Institute.
"You should not see non-alcoholic drinks as a copy, but as a standalone drink," says Wim Boekema, he is the founder of an alcohol-free liquor store in Amersfoort. "For example, non-alcoholic wine used to be really seen as grape juice," says the liquor store. He is trying to change that.
